  5. All programs of any complexity have bugs. The difference is that most
  6. software publishers will not freely tell you about them when they are
  7. found. We will.
  8.  
  9. At this time, we know about the following bug(s) or glitches (None lead
  10. to inaccurate results or crashes):
  11.  
  12. 1) While saving/retrieving loan data, Step 3/4 shows a list of all of
  13. the loans associated with the selected account. This list is suppose to
  14. show several details about each loan. For some reason, the list doesn't
  15. always show the details.
  16.  
  17. To work around this, select a loan and go to the next step to see the
  18. details.
  19.  
  20. 2) Inaccurate error message. "No Zero Values Allowed." This is not
  21. necessarily true. For example, if you are preparing an amortization
  22. schedule and you leave the Rate set to "0", you will get this message
  23. when you attempt to calculate. Note however, you can leave Points set to
  24. zero but you can't leave Rate set to zero. (This error message will also
  25. incorrectly appear in other calculators and advisors.)
  26.  
  27. 3) In the AboutBox a computer with a Pentium chip will be reported as
  28. having a 486 under Windows 3.11. The User & Company names are not always
  29. initialized correctly and the CPU Type is always 'Unknown' under Windows
  30. 95

  32. 4) Negative values can be entered where they make no sense. For example,
  33. the user should not be allowed to enter a negative value for the "Amount
  34. of Loan:".
  35.  
  36. The only work around to this bug is not to enter negative values where
  37. it is obvious that they are not appropriate. Checks will be added in
  38. a later version.
  39.  
  40. 5) When printing an amortization schedule, if you print to the printer
  41. before you preview the loan schedule, the page number will say Page XX
  42. of 9999. That is, the current page number will be correct but the total
  43. number of pages will always be 9999.

  45. The work around to this bug is to "preview" the printout and then print
  46. from the preview screen.
  47.

  49. No other bugs have been reported or found.
  50.  
  51. A number of bugs were fixed during the beta test process. For the
  52. benefit of those who may have helped us test the program prior to
  53. preparing the final release, here is a list of the problems that were
  54. corrected:
  55.  
  56. 1) The copy feature of the 32-bit version did not work. This has
  57. been fixed.
  58.  
  59. 2) The 32-bit version had originally been provided with incorrectly
  60. named database .DLL files. This has been fixed.
  61.  
  62. 3) The Refinance Advisor is not designed to allow you to compare
  63. different financing except for the same amount. This was not clear. This
  64. has been corrected to not allow two different amounts to be entered.
  65.  
  66. 4) It was not possible to resave a loan with different initial values
  67. (that is, overwrite the first loan saved with a given loan number). This
  68. has been fixed.
  69.  
  70. The following bugs have been fixed since Public Beta Release 1:
  71.  
  72. 1) Context sensitive help now works. Press [F1] at anytime and help will
  73. be displayed for the selected field or button.
  74.  
  75. 2) Calculators will now display correctly if you are using a large
  76. Window font. NOTE: Large fonts at 640x480 will NOT be supported. If
  77. you are running at standard VGA resolution (640x480) you will need to
  78. use Window's small screen fonts. (The program's AboutBox will show you
  79. the video resolution that is set for your screen.)
  80.  
  81. 3) The amortization schedule now will not allow you to enter a payment
  82. period/number of initial period combination that would cause the
  83. schedule to run beyond the year 2059. That is, if the initial payment is
  84. in the year 1996, you would not be allowed to amortize a loan for 64
  85. annual payments since the last payment would occur in 2060.
  86.  
  87. 4) It was not possible to use the Refinance Advisor if the Remaining
  88. Balance calculator was open. This is now fixed.
  89.  
  90. 5) On rare occasion, the user would receive an "Invalid Floating Point"
  91. error message while using the amortization schedule. We believe that
  92. this is now fixed. (This would have occurred after having open and closed
  93. many calculators prior to calculating an amortization schedule.)
  94.  
  95. 6) The Refinance Advisor now prints correctly.
  96.  
  97. 7) All calculators now print with a title line.
  98.  
  99. 8) If an account did not have any loans associated with it, it was not
  100. possible to save a new loan for the account unless you created the new
  101. loan, went back and viewed the account information and then did the
  102. save. You can now simply save the loan information for a new account
  103. when it is entered.
  104.  
  105. 9) With some video card/driver combinations, the blue area of the main
  106. window will flash many different colors when a calculator opens over the
  107. main window.

  109. We added the ability to disable the blue background. You may do so from
  110. the main Options menu (uncheck Color Bckgrnd).
  111.  
  112. 10) With some video card/driver combinations, you may receive an "Index
  113. Out-of-Range" error message when the program first starts, if your video
  114. display is set to High Color. This should not affect the functioning of
  115. the program.
  116.  
  117. If you want to work around this error message, you may do so by setting
  118. your video to use 256 colors. You may also try a later version of the
  119. driver for your video card. Finally, you may disable the color
  120. background from the main Options menu (uncheck Color Bckgrnd).

  123. Current bug lists will be maintained at our web site. Also, from time to
  124. time Pine Grove Software will issue maintenance releases to correct
  125. known bugs. Check our web pages at www.pine-grove.com for updates.
  126. Additionally, we are considering notifying users of our program via
  127. e-mail about fixes as they become available. When this service is
  128. introduced, you will be able to sign up for it at our web site.
